Ooh Baby, Baby

So I finally took some photos that I would like to consider "semi-professional!" YEAH!! Progress is in the making. Even though the shoot took 4 hours (between the nursing sessions, a cranky toddler, and multiple family members), the pictures turned out AMAZING!...if I do say so myself. It was yet another learning process/practice session with this being my first real trial for setting up in some one's home whom I'd never been to and taking shots of people I didn't really know. So after several changes of clothing, backdrops, and subject,s we pretty much threw "flow" and "smoothness" out the window! Let's just say that I'll be the one directing the photo shoot a little more next time. Here's some examples of what came about through all the chaos... some beautiful shots of the New Baby Kieran (born Dec 31), an awesome shot of Baby Kieran and Dad, and a gorgeous shot of their little girl, Cerys. All in all, I am one happy little photographer!

Live & Learn

So I did my first wedding shoot the weekend before last. It was a very low-key, no-pressure wedding so it was great practice for me! However...it was definitly a learning experience! I had never really intented on advertising myself as a wedding photographer, but decided to do this couple (friends in the church) a favor and thought it would be good practice for me! The process itself wasn't so bad, but let's just say it wasn't my, "cup of tea." No offense to the couple of course! They were tremendous for even thinking of me and allowing me the opportunity and their family was all very cooperative through all the many poses! I just realized, when all was said and done, I'd rather be crawling around on the floor chasing after wiggling babies and catching todders "in the moment" than making couples rub noses and making sure cousin Frankie's head isn't hiding behind Grandma's wig. (I'm exagerating of course!) And to make matters worse, when the wedding was over I realized I had set some of the settings wrong on my camera and hadn't made the changes for an all white room with florecent lights (YIKES!). I had previously been shooting indoor pictures of the boys so I was set up for low light and fast movement! As a result the pictures came out a little grainy. I know I am my hardest critic, but I hate turning over a product that isn't "perfect." I just have to keep telling myself that this was a LIVE & LEARN experience and I must grow, overcome, and adapt from my mistakes! And I know with each click of my shutter, the pictures can only get better from here! Anyway, here's a cute pose of the couple I used in a fun photoshop set up! BTW, I love photoshop!
