Here's the first of the sneak peeks from "Le Canape in the Canopy" - 1K Words Holiday Portrait Event. All these sessions turned out so great. And even though it was a bit overcast and dreary on both shoot days, we made it work. Thanks to all the families who participated and helped make this first-anual event such a success!

Although the session was cut short - this little one was a ham in front of the camera. She has the sweetest personality and the most gorgeous blue eyes. And the cherry on top - I get to photograph her every month and watch her grown and change in all her cuteness. Awesome!

{Gone But Not Forgotten} KMC Child Photographer

As many of you know, my family experienced a great loss only a few short month ago.  My husband's brother, my boys' uncle, my friend, Casey Randall died very suddenly and unexpectedly.  Our family is still trying to recover from the tragedy...

Many of you ask, "How are you doing?"  It's a hard question to answer.  The sun shines, but some days are still grey.  You see us smile, but we still harbor sadness in our hearts.  You hear us laugh, but our hearts are still weeping...

One of the hardest parts for me is to see the people whom I love and cherish so much, hurting so badly.  There's no easy fix...

I find solace in my Lord and in my work.  I was blessed to be able to take pictures of Casey's beautiful baby boy while we were home for the memorial.  In him, I see his Daddy.  In him, I see Casey's spirit carried on.  God is good.

We love you, Casey.

{New-Year Resolution} KMC Photographer - Through the Lens

So the 23rd of the month marks the 2nd year anniversary of 1K Words.  (I'd been shooting a lot sooner than that, but my official, Department of Revenue/Federal Tax ID/Registered Business part was enacted on this day.)  So, as a new business year approaches, I have vowed to do one thing.  I'm going to start showing you the "personal" side to my photography.  That is, when I'm not crawling around on the floor with their kids or getting paid to click my shutter, what type of things am I shooting?  Where do I vacation?  What does my family look like?  How about my own kids?



Some of you may frown upon the idea of plastering my own children or pictures of my individual life on a business related blog.  I, too, had some reservations about doing this.  However, I think when your clients can "see the real you" in your personal pictures, you somehow become more real to them.  They can learn something about you before you ever even meet - it's almost as if they feel they already know you.  I believe this personal approach is what makes my business thrive, what sets me apart.



So, here marks the first post of my life as I see it through the lens.
