YEAH!!!! Let me just say that again... YEAH!!! Do you notice anything new about these pics? Okay, I'll just tell you. I got my new lens and new backdrops in the mail last week - hence the excitement. I broke down and ordered the Savage Paper in two fun colors, marigold (behind the boys) and true blue (not shown). And would you have known that it was paper if I hadn't told you? My husband was a little skeptical since paper and kids isn't always the best combination. However, the roll is really long and I only need a few feet for each shoot so it will last awhile. And true, the paper got a little beat up from just one session, but that was really only on the bottom where you won't usually see it unless I do full shots of the kiddos sitting or standing on the paper. I mainly got it for a fun change of backdrop behind head shots. I also got my new "portrait" lens. No it's not the $1300 like I wanted, but it is an excellent starter! I really needed to shoot with something that was fixed at a normal range (50mm) and was much "faster" as they would say in the photog world. It has a low aperture of f1.8 (my stock lens really only ever got down to 4.5 even in the best conditions) and it is great for natural light and is going to give me that really vivid looking 'eye' on my subjects and a more blurred background (called bokeh if you really wanted to know!). I think the power of this little piece of glass is quite obvious in the somber picture of Dillon. His eyes just "pop" and look amazing and the backdrop and even part of his ears are blurred making his face just stand out at you. I can't wait to take some more client pics with this new additional to my arsenal. Wooo Hoooo!
